E3 Capital Leads Insight Terra's US$5.7 Million Series A Extension to Scale its Climate-Tech Platform

Insight Terra, a prominent player in environmental risk management, has secured US$5.7 million in an extended Series A funding round. The investment will support the expansion of its AI-powered platform, designed for monitoring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and managing geotechnical risks. The round was spearheaded by E3 Capital , with additional backing from Fireball Capital, Atlantic Bridge, Globalive, and JLR Star.

This funding highlights an increasing dedication to utilising technology to address climate change challenges. The investment will be used to expand the company’s commercial and technical teams, promote wider adoption of its platform across various industries, and strengthen its ability to comply with stricter environmental regulations and rising investor expectations.

Established in 2021, Insight Terra offers an edge-to-cloud data management platform that delivers real-time analytics and actionable insights on environmental risks. This empowers businesses to effectively monitor and minimize their environmental impact. The platform caters to industries requiring strict adherence to international standards and safety protocols, providing tools to monitor and reduce fugitive GHG emissions while managing geotechnical risks.

“This investment will allow us to fast-track the enhancement and growth of our platform’s capabilities, addressing the complex monitoring, reporting, and verification challenges that industries worldwide encounter,” said Alastair Bovim, Co-Founder and CEO of Insight Terra.

In South Africa, where climate change intensifies threats to critical infrastructure, Insight Terra’s platform offers the capability to reduce environmental and human impacts, helping prevent disasters like the Brumadinho dam collapse in Brazil. By transforming real-time data into actionable insights, the platform enhances operational safety and ensures adherence to regulatory standards.

Andrew Darge, E3 Capital’s lead on the transaction, highlighted the importance of Insight Terra’s technology. “The advanced capabilities of the Insight Platform establish it as a frontrunner in addressing climate-related risks within Africa’s key industries. This investment aligns perfectly with E3’s mission to promote low-carbon solutions in emerging markets.”

Paula Mokwena, CEO of Fireball Capital, shared similar views, emphasizing the platform’s ability to drive progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. “Fireball is dedicated to supporting visionary entrepreneurs tackling sustainability challenges. Insight Terra embodies this commitment by revolutionizing environmental risk management.”

Kevin Dillon, Managing Partner at Atlantic Bridge, highlighted the company’s advancements since its initial Series A funding. “We are pleased to further support Insight Terra in this next phase of growth, acknowledging the team’s strong potential for substantial expansion.”

The investment will allow Insight Terra to solidify its presence in Africa and enter new markets, meeting the increasing need for data-driven solutions to tackle climate change. By providing industries with sophisticated monitoring tools, the company seeks to make a significant contribution to global sustainability initiatives.

As regulatory standards become more stringent and the climate crisis escalates, Insight Terra’s platform provides an essential tool for industries working to comply with international regulations while minimizing their environmental impact. This funding round highlights the critical role of climate-tech innovation in promoting resilience and sustainability across various sectors.
